Welcome to Valemount Senior Citizens Housing Society

The Society is a non-profit organization which was formed in 1977 by volunteers in the community to provide affordable housing for seniors.  The Society was incorporated in 1978.  In 2002 the organization received charitable status. The Society has a volunteer Board of Directors, who are instrumental in the governance of the Society.  Directors have a one- or two-year term and may be nominated to sit on the board at the Annual General Meeting. There is one part-time Administrator and one full-time Caretaker/Maintenance person.

The Society manages three facilities, Golden Years Lodge, Valemount House and Mountain Ash Manor. Golden Years Lodge, Phase 1 was built in 1977 and has two floors, the upper floor consists of four (4) one-bedroom units, two (2) large one-bedroom units, lounge area and laundry facilities.  Ground level has a commercial kitchen, hall, large lounge area and a one (1) bedroom caretakers suite.   In 1987 the Society built Phase 2 of the Golden Years Lodge, adding an additional six (6) one-bedroom units on the upper level and a shop plus storage on the ground level. In 2003 an elevator was installed in the Golden Years Lodge with a $60,000 grant from the Columbia Basin Trust.  In 2025 the Society received the Livability Grant from Columbia Basin Trust and created an exercise room for seniors in the Golden Years Lodge.

Valemount House consists of a 4-plex and 6-plex one-bedroom units, each has a front and rear access, their own washer & dryer and outdoor space.  

The Society’s newest facility finished construction in the fall of 2025.  Mountain Ash Manor is a net zero building consisting of fourteen (14) one-bedroom units, two (2) wheelchair units and two (2) two-bedroom units.  With additional funding the Society was able to add a commercial kitchen, common area, office, guest suite and multipurpose room.  

The society has operating agreements with British Columbia Housing to proved affordable housing for low to moderate income seniors.
